What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Needs Caregiver position at MaxCare?
Looking for full-time and part-time caregivers for our adult family member with an Intellectual Disability, Seizure Disorder, Asthma, and Diabetes in Greensboro. He is a 41-year-old man, living with his sister and brother-in-law who manage all aspects of his care in partnership with his parents.
He is easy going, loves to laugh, loves sports, music and staying busy doing activities around town. He is nonverbal. He is mobile but requires significant assistance and direction in doing all daily tasks: i. e. dressing, bathing, staying safe, knowing when to eat/drink/rest and so on.
His health is up and down. In recent years he's been hospitalized frequently.
We need a caregiver who is as comfortable handling an acute health crisis, doing personal and incontience care - including ostomy care - as they are taking him to YMCA gym, swimming, bowling, walking, etc.
Shifts are primarily during the weekdays with some weekend and overnights required.
Pay range = $18.50-23/hour
Hours = 16 to 32 hours per week
## Duties
- Assist clients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, dressing, and grooming
- Provide incontinence and skin care
- Provide direct support in various settings such as home, community care and hospital
- Provide transportation to activities in community (mileage and gas reimbursed)
- Prepare meals and encourage healthy eating
- Perform light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, including laundry and cleaning up after meals
- Help client achieve physical activity goals such as walking, swimming and using weight machines at the YMCA
-Engage client in fun activities and plan day trips out in the community
Qualifications
- Previous experience in caregiving or a related field is preferred
-CNA licensed preferred or equivalent on-job experience
- Ability to support client in remaining balanced and handle potential falls
- Strong communication skills and empathy towards those in need of care and their family members
-Comfortable working in clients private home with family members present
- Knowledge of caregiving practices and techniques
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required, training provided as needed
- Certification in NC DHHS's Behavioral Interventions training, provided as needed
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
