THE ROLE As a Senior Engineer in Body/Structures you will lead the development of structural components to achieve best-in-class performance. You will work with cutting edge automotive technologies including hybrid structures to assure designs meet customer requirements, corporate objectives, are safe, can be manufactured, and produced economically. Areas you will be supporting include electro-hydraulic control systems, hybrid and electric vehicles, autonomous vehicle systems, active safety systems, advanced connectivity systems, and other auxiliary systems and technology for on-road and off-road vehicle applications. Ensure information and project status is conveyed in a concise and accurate manner to leadership Project Management: Identify action plans, assign resources, and monitor activities to ensure project deliverables are met Team Member Development: Provide mentoring on the engineering design process and sound design principles. YOUR IMPACT Coordinate activities for projects to ensure that they meet customer expectations Design to specific requirements set by our internal leadership, support the creation/modification of requirements, connect designs with customer requirements, and specifications such as ANSI Z245.1 Determine whether customer requirements have been satisfied and evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability Contribute to the development of new technologies and establish system and sub-system requirements according to the needs of a project Analyzes feedback from customer and suppliers regarding performance Analyzes incoming designs to be sure the design can be manufactured in a modern high flow system Determines priorities for items to be completed and supports Product/Program team members with updates and guidance on steps to successful solutions Assistance is given to others and utilizes motivation techniques to ensure that projects are completed on schedule Defines program objectives and requirements to both customer and suppliers Contacts other departments to ensure that all questions have been answered Assume engineering responsibility for assigned program Provide leadership to a technical staff to ensure program success Maintain effective communication with suppliers, customers, and internal departments concerning technical issues affecting the program Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards. Ensure that technical issues are conducted with the framework of company policies and procedure Provides assistance in service activities and manual preparation Work closely with CAE teams interpreting FEA and using analysis-based results to guide and evolve the designs assigned Guide less experienced engineers through new design best practices Prepare system and sub-system level design reviews (Preliminary, Detailed, and Final Design Reviews. etc.) Developing solutions that exceed regulatory compliance, drive increased reliability, push cross functional teams through Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical, or a related field 8-plus years related experience Experience with automotive body structures and heavy-duty body on chassis design Help generate intellectual property to protect our advanced technology development programs Ability to read, comprehend, and develop an advanced engineering Technical Drawing Package Ability to troubleshoot structural failures with our Test and Development and FEA teams Ability to attain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) to accomplish assigned projects Experience with automotive or heavy-duty equipment system architectures SolidWorks, CREO, SmarTeam, Windchill experience Weldment (WLDMT) drawings and design experience STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Expertise in vehicle high volume design engineering Knowledge and ability to integrate state-of-the-art design and manufacturing methods into product concepts and designs including familiarity with GD&T and dimensional engineering Working knowledge of aluminum/steel/composite structure, and joining techniques Experience in product development, from concept through prototyping to full rate production WHY OSHKOSH?
