Surgery Scheduler - Bronson Orthopedic Surgery Center

Bronson Orthopedic Surgery Center is offering an excellent opportunity for a Part-Time Surgery Scheduler to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate looking to join a new outpatient surgery center in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Main Function: Surgery Scheduler performs a variety of clerical tasks. Maintains a good working relationship with physicians and staff. The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for organizing and maintaining the OR scheduling systems.

Schedules appointments and procedures according to nursing and anesthesia staff availability, patient needs, and physician's block time

• Accurately prepares final preoperative and surgery schedule for timely distribution
• Considers priorities and patient/equipment special needs when scheduling preoperative appointments and surgical procedures
• Distributes schedules to appropriate areas so that required staff and supplies are available
• Schedules all procedures to be performed in facility.
• Follows scheduling form to obtain all necessary patient demographic, health, and insurance information from physician's office.
• Regulates schedule according to procedure and physician's time and staffing requirements.
• Follows procedure for notification of changes in the schedule (e.g. cancellation, rescheduling).

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or its equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, preferable in an Ambulatory Surgery Center
• CPR/AED certification on hire or within 90 days of hire
• Good computer skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent phone etiquette
