CULTURE:

We seek a team member to manage and supervise the housekeeping staff according to policies and procedure, and federal/state requirements. A manager that provides leadership support, coordination, and guidance to ensure that quality standards, inventory levels, safety guidelines and customer service expectations are met. 

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

• Maintains records of income and expenditures, supplies, personnel, and equipment.

• Secures and assures that all equipment is maintained and in working order. 

• Trains workers in housekeeping, floor care, and laundry methods and procedures and proper operation of equipment.

• Cross trains and develops personnel for multiple positions/duties. 

• Can perform the job assignments of light housekeeper, heavy housekeeper, and laundry worker. 

• Communicates between various shifts to ensure completion of tasks. 

• Supervises, coordinates, and evaluates work of all employees, delegating, work equally among employees.

• Daily quality control inspections and follows through on all assignments, directives, and projects to ensure task completion 

• Ensures that established sanitation and safety standards are maintained. 

• Interacts appropriately with patients, employees, and the public. 

• Responds to customer preferences, complies with industry and federal and state guidelines, and meets the needs of residents. 

• Ability to perform the job assignments of the Light Housekeeper, Heavy Housekeeper and Laundry Worker as necessary. 

• Ability to recognize hazards and follow appropriate protective equipment measures, read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS) sheets, and communicate/train employees as to such. 

• The ability to handle and mix chemicals safely and properly. 

• Develops, maintains, and implements infection control and universal precautions policies and procedures to ensure that a sanitary environment is maintained at all times and that all environmental services personnel follow proper reporting, isolation and hand washing procedures/techniques. 

• Ability to maintain records and complete reports. 

• Written and oral communication and teaching skills.

Working Conditions/Physical Environment:

• Much of the job is done while standing and walking

• Lifting and carrying bags of soiled, wet, and clean linen, max. weight of 50 lbs.

• Pushing and pulling, max weight of 50 lbs.

• Twisting, bending, and reaching from floor to waist height and from waist to chest level. 

• Noise level is moderately quiet, except for when operating equipment 

• Exposed to odors

• Must be on constant alert for possible injuries to patients

• Exposed to sharp objects and hazardous materials

• Must be able to work around cleaning products and chemicals

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two years’ experience in healthcare environment 
• Prior management experience 

PREFERRED:

• Two years experience in environmental services in a healthcare environment and personnel supervision 
• Basic computer skills preferred. 
• Bilingual

MELISSA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL:

Melissa Memorial Hospital is a 15-bed critical access hospital, located in Holyoke, Colorado. While being “rural” we are equipped for any situation. It is a model rural hospital with 1 operating room, surgical procedure room, 4 bay emergency room, and radiology including 64-slice CT scanner and mammography, MRI, ECHO, and Nuclear Medicine, along with other ancillary services. The hospital is co-located with a family practice clinic and retail pharmacy services. Other services include chemotherapy, general & orthopedic surgery, podiatry, cardiology, orthopedic surgery, progressive rehab services, and wound care. MMH operates a full-time EMS service and maintains a 24/7 AirLife Helicopter base.
