Dietary Assistant

Memorial Community Health is seeking a part time Dietary Assistant to join our Food Services team at East Park Villa. This will be days with every other weekend.

The position is responsible for a wide variety of meal service responsibilities, including assisting in the preparation of meals, reviewing healthcare provider diets, explaining healthcare provider diets to patients, serving meals and washing dishes. Previous experience in food preparation and working with the elderly is preferred.

Responsibilities and Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Prepares and serves meals to patients, visitors and staff according to approved menus completely, in a consistent and efficient delivery of service.
• Assists in the preparation of drinks and food in a sanitary manner, according to the order.
• Tastes and smells food to determine quality and palatability.
• Assists with tray assembly ensuring a smooth work flow from food preparation to delivery.
• Assists in setting patient trays, serving quests and staff.
• Sets up carts for meals.
• Follows diet cards and special diet instructions for all meals.
• Maintains responsibility for high quality food preparation, proper food handling and sanitation.
• Follows recipes to prepare adequate amounts of product based upon forecasted amounts.
• Takes and records required temperatures.
• Assists in stocking and maintaining supplies for the kitchen and dining room.
• Demonstrates appropriate use, sanitation and care of equipment to provide a safe and sanitary work environment using required guidelines.'
