Job Summary
Provides a wide range of career-related services to young adults, who need additional support to access and enter the local work force. Solicits employer interest and involvement in the employment of students and graduates being served through adult education programs.
Responsibilities
- Assesses student-client interests, skill levels, aptitudes and experiences and develops individualized plans for education, training, and career goals. Provides case management related to the accomplishment of the goals.
- Prepares, schedules, and delivers a broad range of career-related workshops and small group presentations including but not limited to employability skills, job search techniques, writing applications and/or resumes, interviewing skills, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship.
- Provides individual critiquing and advising to students on approaches to interviews, and research of employers.
- Initiates and develops professional relationships with prospective employers to promote the adult education program and increase employment opportunities for students. Solicits and accepts job offers and sets up recruitment profiles.
- Establishes and maintains temporary, full-time, and part-time job banks consisting of employer information and job specifications. Maintains and continually updates job orders by category. Distributes job orders to stimulate student awareness and interest.
- Provides networking opportunities between agencies, employers, and students including semi-annual advisory meetings, job fairs, guest speakers and other similar activities.
- Compiles statistics and other data for special reports including but not limited to assessment results, demographics, referrals, job placement, retention, and success rates. Assists with local labor market surveys that identify potential employment opportunities and rates of pay.
- Ensures the equal and fair treatment of all student-client applicants for and recipients of job placement assistance including those with language and other difficulties.
- Attends industry specific conferences to learn about and stay up-to-date on career and employment opportunities in the local/regional job markets.
- Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position
Education & Experience
The position requires an Associate’s degree (or the equivalent of 60 units) and one year of progressive experience in an educational, vocational, or workforce development program. May require competency in a second language.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.22 - $31.76 per hour
