Permit Drafter I – Entry Level

Overview
Reporting to the Permit Manager, the Permit Drafter I (“Drafter”) produces drawings, sketches, and diagrams for various telecommunications projects. The Drafter will be an integral part of the permit team who demonstrates the ability to collaborate professionally with Designers, Project Managers, and various other stakeholders.

The Drafter’s ultimate responsibility is to produce drawings and related permit documents that comply with Meridium Group’s quality assurance standards and industry best practices for all types of telecommunications permits, which includes DOT permits, railroad permits, municipal permits, and power pole permits. The Drafter must be a highly organized individual who communicates professionally, reliably, and effectively with little or no direction.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assemble, complete, and submit permit applications to the appropriate permitting authorities.
  • Coordinate closely with the Permit Manager to ensure permit application packages are complete.
  • Produce thorough and complete drawings that meet and exceed the required scope of work and expected levels of quality.
  • Ensure that all drafting assignments are legible, easy to decipher, and adhere to industry-accepted drafting standards.
  • Work closely with the Permit Manager, Project Manager, or other executives to address special needs for permit application packages.
  • Track the status of permit applications regularly and maintain status reports for all assigned permits.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with coworkers, customers, and permitting authorities.
  • Ensures that all project-related communications, data, correspondences, and related items route through the assigned Project Manager and Permit Manager.
  • Balances attention to detail with the overall timeline for completion of work.
  • Checks accuracy of work and follows established quality control procedures.
  • Works independently to identify and resolve permit-related problems.
  • Identifies and reports process and data quality issues to their supervisor.
  • Updates progress sheets, complete documentation to support quality assurance procedures, and tracks daily activities.
  • Respond to design changes or needed revisions with a high degree of urgency.

Skills, and Qualifications

  • Strong computer skills.
  • A Bachelor's or Associate's degree is preferred but not required.
  • Previous project management experience is required.
  • Previous experience with telecommunications-related permitting is required.
  • 3 years of permit development experience is required.
  • ESRI ArcGIS experience is a plus but not required.
  • Experience utilizing GIS data is required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar programs is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and working in a Microsoft Windows environment is required.
  • Strong independent leadership, critical thinking, communication, accountability, analytical thinking, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Additional Requirements

· Must successfully pass a criminal background check.

· Must pass a drug screening.

· This job requires sitting and working in front of monitors for extended periods.

Pay: $35,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
