Job Summary:
Conducts duties associated with the delivery of services and determines eligibility for receipt of child care assistance. Interprets rules and regulations of child care program areas. Facilitates/coordinates the processes and procedures necessary to provide clients with assistance. Performs calculations and accounting functions necessary to establish eligibility and to determine the necessary steps to resolve client situations. This position will require computer skills and customer service skills.Essential Duties:

- Determines eligibility for various child care assistance programs using the state computer system.
- Conducts interviews and gathers information such as income, financial resources, child care arrangements, etc. Assists clients in completing forms and obtaining the necessary documentation for program participation.
- Approves or denies applications, closes cases as necessary, and notifies clients of decisions in writing. Transfers cases to the appropriate eligibility specialist, or caseload.
- Assesses client needs and makes referrals to other agency and community services.
- Verifies all information through computer data banks, pay stubs, contacts with employers and banks, etc. Manages workload and paper flow.
- Informs recipients/applicants of rules and regulations and their rights and responsibilities for eligibility to receive assistance.
- Establishes and conducts the necessary accounting processes and procedures to record and account for child care assistance payments.
- Provides prompt and accurate answers to questions about child care programs and other resources available through the state, the community, or within the agency.
- Works independently to process case changes as they occur and stays timely per county and state policy and rules.
- Ensures that all case documents are filed in the electronic data storage file correctly and in a timely manner
- Communicates in a timely and responsive manner with internal teams, community organizations, providers, and State Staff.
- Oral and written communications must be clear and effective.
- Attends team and division meetings as requested. Works effectively in a team environment, providing assistance to co-workers as needed.
- Attends training as assigned.
- Attends meetings as a representative of the department; conducts self in accordance with department.
- Provides customer service by actively listening to and being inquisitive about the whole person and engaging in service delivery with a collaborative, human-centered approach.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years office or public service experience required.
Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.
Preferred: Bilingual (English/Spanish)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
This position requires standing, stooping, sitting, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
Work is generally confined to a standard office environment.
