Metals USA Plates and Shapes, Inc is seeking an Accountant for the Mobile, Alabama location. Metals USA is a leading metals processor/distributor in North America. We are a solid, growth-oriented company servicing the defense, commercial construction, and aerospace and fabrication industries.
The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accounting principles and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position encompasses a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger entries, account reconciliations, year-end audit preparation, and fixed assets.
Responsibilities
- Obtains and maintains a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
- Prepares journal entries and account reconciliations for month/quarter/year end close.
- Prepares and distributes month end reports for multiple companies.
- Monitors and analyzes processes and procedures to develop more efficient use of resources while maintaining accuracy.
- Coordinates documentation and preparation for annual internal and financial audits.
- Maintains fixed assets for multiple regions within corporate software program.
- Assists with special projects within the accounting department, including annual capital expense budgeting.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned.

Requirements:Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and 3 to 5 years' experience as an accountant; preference for manufacturing industry
- Advanced skills using Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word
- Working knowledge of internal controls
- Interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
