Position Summary
The Director, U.S. Government Engagement (USGE) is responsible for leading Metrea’s engagement with U.S. Congress and relevant U.S. executive branch agencies that interact with Congress. U.S. Government Engagement includes the market layers of legislative, policy, regulatory, and requirements where Metrea does business. U.S. Government Engagement includes mapping, networking, collecting, and shaping U.S. federal, state, U.S. territory and local political and policy environments to identify or create new business opportunities and mitigate risk to existing business.
The Director, USGE will be a senior member of the Strategy team and is expected to contribute across Metrea wherever relevant to the enterprise.
Role and Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of key influencers, stakeholders, and decision-makers within the U.S. legislative and executive branches, focusing on those impacting Department of Defense policies, authorizations, and appropriations throughout the budgeting and legislative processes.
- Lead Metrea's engagement with federal government communities, especially U.S. Congress, and build relationships with key stakeholders and elected officials at federal, state, and local levels to enhance access and understanding of the government.
- Collect, analyze, and share market intelligence and business opportunities from U.S. Congress, DoD, and federal stakeholders to identify new opportunities and mitigate risks to existing Metrea programs.
- Develop and implement strategies to engage stakeholders, increase awareness of Metrea, and coordinate engagement plans with Metrea’s fiscal and development schedules, involving team members as needed.
- Collaborate with Strategy and Solution Development teams to enhance business tools, processes, and capabilities, focusing on insights into U.S. government fiscal year cycles for more proactive and effective engagement.
- Participate in, and potentially lead when appropriate, evaluations of problems and potential solutions, using Metrea’s Solution Framework.
- Contribute to the development of investment briefs and memos and participate in the decision-making process used to assess organic and strategic opportunities, with a particular focus on whether the opportunity properly accounts for policy and political trends and dynamics and how to approach engagement with U.S. Congress, DoD, and other U.S. government stakeholders.
- Continually scan for wicked problems and potentially elegant solutions.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Minimum of five years of experience focused on the authorization and appropriation of the Department of Defense
- Master’s degree in government affairs or national security (preferred)

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with typical working hours from Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours and work shifts may change in accordance with department and business needs. Exempt Employees must have the ability to be on-call and available, as business needs require. Non-Exempt employees may be required to work over 40 hours per week with approval from the department manager.
