The Business Systems Analyst position within Laboratory Services will utilize knowledge of laboratory operations, combined with expertise in Laboratory business systems to identify, analyze, define, and translate the Laboratory's business requirements into system use. The incumbent will apply an in-depth, comprehensive working knowledge of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), SharePoint, and SAP Business Intelligence to lead projects involving these systems within the Lab. The incumbent will lead cross-functional teams and collaborate closely with other MCES staff on projects and business process improvements that involve Laboratory Business Systems.
What you would do in this job
- Serve as the SME for Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) application; Serve as a resource to professional and technical staff and departmental customers on configuration, modification, implementation and testing of LIMS application and system data.
- Acts as a lead liaison between department end-users, technical analysts, information technology analysts and vendors in analyzing, designing, configuring, testing and maintaining system to ensure optimal system performance.
- Serve as LIMS power-user; Provide training to Lab staff and Lab stakeholder / customers on LIMS use and functionality
- Maintain LIMS application tables, configure structure / fields, and ensure smooth operation of internal Laboratory functions
- Develop and write user reports and queries from Laboratory Business Systems. Respond to Stakeholder / Customer data requests.
- Create and write training documents, manuals, and user guides for Laboratory Business Systems.
- Plan system upgrades, costs, and time estimates for completing upgrades.
- Write test scripts, system modifications and identify programming needs and system interfaces with other enterprise applications
- Perform system troubleshooting
- Assists in defining project scope, objectives, project deliverables and critical target dates.
- Develops, coordinates, and implements plans to test business and functional processes during system development and quality assurance testing. Applies analytical methods to develop information needed to evaluate current operations such as work distribution charts, flow charts, process-and-operation charts trends and costs.
- Research best practice models for LIMS and other Lab business systems. Remains current on business functional areas to understand system customer requirements and system feasibility.
- Communicates proposed solutions and implementation details of system components to appropriate parties.
- Acts as project leader on designed projects by directing and coordinating the activities of other staff involved in the system analysis, evaluation, design and installation.

What education and experience are required for this job (minimum qualifications)
Any of the following combinations of completed education (Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science or other related field) and experience working within an analytical laboratory with a minimum of one year as a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) power-user or SME including performing system modifications or configurations.

Work is performed in a standard office setting. Subject to work in laboratory and industrial environments, and utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including respiratory protection, to protect employee from potential exposure to fumes, vapors, corrosives, airborne particulates, elevated noise, and temperature extremes.?
