Under the supervision of the Chief Finance Officer, the Staff Accountants responsibilities include maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, assisting with budget and close processes, conducting internal audits, and maintaining accounts payable documentation. Staff Accountant also assists the CFO as needed and responds to information requests by management and for auditing purposes.
To be successful, a Staff Accountant should be able to accurately maintain a general ledger and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintain financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts. Performs general cost accounting for the organization.
Responsible for all AR/AP duties for the organization
Prepare journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assisting with monthly close processes. Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
Contribute to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections.
Maintain documentation for accounts payable, purchasing, and treasury and conducting internal audits.
Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
Meet processing and reporting deadlines.
Respond to information requests, reviewing financial statements, and assisting with audits.
Ensuring compliance with GAAP.
Assist the CFO and Payroll Manager as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
2 years of accounting experience.
Proficient with QuickBooks, Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Working knowledge of GAAP.
Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
Good problem-solving and time management skills.
Highly organized and detail-oriented.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The Staff Accountant is required to sit and talk on the telephone for extended periods of time.
The Staff Accountant is required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and see, talk, and hear.
The Staff Accountant must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Although most work is performed during regular work hours, the ability to work flexible schedules and extended hours is sometimes required.
