About The Job
The Metropolitan Golf Association (MGA) is offering a 6-8 month internship (April/May – October/November 2025) in the Championships Department. This role provides an in-depth, hands-on experience in golf administration, with a focus on MGA’s championship operations. The internship involves assisting with MGA championships, qualifiers, and USGA qualifying rounds, offering you the chance to work with top golf courses in the Metropolitan Area. What You’ll Do
- Tournament Administration and On-Site Support: Travel to premier courses across the Metropolitan Area to support the administration of MGA events. Assist with pre-tournament tasks, such as course marking, set-up, and preparing local rules.
- Event Equipment Management: Oversee inventory, refurbishment, packing, transportation, setup, and breakdown of equipment (e.g., tents, coolers, tee markers) for MGA competitions.
- On-Site Event Coordination: Play an active role during tournaments by assisting with check-ins, managing pace of play, scoring, and post-event follow-up.
- Stakeholder Communication and Support: Act as a liaison for MGA member clubs and patrons, addressing inquiries related to MGA and Met Area competitions.
- Departmental Support and Administrative Tasks: Support Championship Department projects, meetings, mailings, and seminars as needed.
- Field and Office Support: You will spend the majority of your internship attending MGA-administered championships and qualifiers. ~70% of the time will be spent in the field and 30% in the office.
What We’re Looking For
- Excellent communication, public relations, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and various database tools.
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for travel across the Tri-State area.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment focused on customer service.
- Knowledge of golf and familiarity with golf terminology.
