The Medical Clinic General Maintenance Worker (Maintenance Worker) ensures the functionality and safety of the healthcare environment by performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks. This role involves maintaining building systems, addressing electrical and plumbing needs, performing preventative maintenance on HVAC and fire life safety systems, and repairing floors, doors, and fixtures.

The following qualifications are required:
- High school or trade school graduate or equivalent
- 3 years’ relevant experience such as construction, service technician, or building maintenance worker
- Current Arizona driver’s license with clean driving record and proof of current vehicle insurance (39-month MVR will be run by MHC)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professionals certification (may be completed with MHC – must be completed within 1 month of start date)
- Certified Healthcare Maintenance Worker (ASHE – American Society of HealthCare Engineers)
- Experience working in the healthcare field
- Completion of OSHA 10 and 30-hour training
- First Aid certification (may be completed with MHC upon hire)

The ideal candidate will also possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Computer proficient with Microsoft Office applications
- Working knowledge of building systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and Fire Life Safety systems.
- Proficient in preventative maintenance for building systems and equipment.
- Skilled in operating sewer cleaning machines, including mainline sewer machines, handheld drill cables, and toilet augers.
- Expertise in using hand and power tools, including wrenches, saws, cutters, and similar equipment.
- Knowledge of domestic water heaters (gas and electric) and their maintenance.
- Skilled in drywall repair and installation (hanging, taping, texturing, patching, and prepping for paint).
- Proficient in interior and exterior painting, including preparation, masking, rolling, brushing, and cutting in.
- Strong understanding of building construction principles and mechanical systems.
- Strong knowledge of infection prevention methods and ability to work within sterile and sensitive healthcare environments.
- Ability to adhere to safety standards and protocols when performing maintenance tasks.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues under pressure.
- Willingness to work outside areas of expertise to support other maintenance needs within the organization.
- Ability to respond promptly to emergency calls and provide timely repairs.
- Effective communication skills to explain issues to clinical staff and report disruptions to supervisors.
- Ability to coordinate with staff and supervisors to schedule and complete work efficiently.
- Ability to order supplies and maintain inventory to minimize downtime for repairs.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including off-hours, to minimize service disruptions.

- Working in sterile environments and around sensitive medical equipment, the Maintenance Worker must demonstrate technical proficiency, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.
- Maintains, cleans, performs minor repairs, and performs preventative maintenance throughout the facilities on a wide variety of building systems.
- Maintains specialized plumbing systems like medical gas lines and vacuum systems.
- Diagnoses and repairs minor leaks, clogs, and other malfunctions in a timely manner.
- Performs preventive maintenance on fire life safety systems.
- Performs minor cleaning tasks and landscape upkeep.
- Identifies, communicates, and addresses potential safety hazards related to building systems.
- Maintains accurate records of work performed, including parts used and repair details.
- Completes necessary paperwork and work orders promptly.
- Works with other maintenance staff, engineers, and healthcare professionals to ensure the timely completion of projects.
- This is a very physically demanding position that requires extensive walking and standing for extended periods, sometimes in extremely hot and cold environments.
- Frequently lifts, carries, and moves heavy loads.
- May work in tight uncomfortable positions for extended periods.
- Other duties as assigned to support the organization.
