About the Company - MacAllister Machinery is seeking a Transportation Manager to oversee and lead the transport of equipment and products across Michigan.
About the Role - This role combines operational oversight, team leadership, and customer-facing responsibilities to ensure the efficient and cost-effective delivery of equipment from our locations to customer sites.
Responsibilities
- Directly supervise the Fleet Dispatcher and Union Lowboy Drivers, ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Dispatch equipment deliveries and pick-ups in the most cost-effective manner to meet delivery time goals.
- Develop and maintain relationships with 3PL carriers for additional transport capacity.
- Manage the maintenance schedules and costs for company trucks and ensure they meet all state and federal safety requirements.
- Oversee cross-hauling operations with our rental store division.
- Focus on driver safety by approving and acquiring safety equipment for lowboy drivers.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, driver log requirements, and state safety inspection standards.
- Collaborate with the MFC DOT Compliance team to coach drivers and managers on defensive driving, vehicle maintenance, and post-accident processes.
- Serve as the primary customer contact for equipment hauling, providing transport quotations and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Build and maintain relationships with Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), county governments, and weighmasters to secure necessary permits and understand local transportation laws.
- Develop business cases for capital expenses related to fleet improvements.
- Ensure compliance with FMCSA regulations and maintain accurate compliance and safety data.
- Manage department budgets and monitor freight costs as a percentage of sales.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3 years of experience in the rental/transportation industry
- Supervisory experience
Required Skills

- Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field
- 5 years of experience in the rental/transportation industry
- Advanced supervisory experience
