Derivative Hedging Analyst or Associate
Midwest Holding LLC, a rapidly growing financial services holding company, seeks a versatile, hands-on, and energetic team player to join us as Derivative Hedging Analyst or Associate. Summary/Objective
We seek an Analyst or Associate (depending on experience) to join our investments department.
The position is based in Midtown Manhattan, New York.
Essential Functions
· Responsible for hedging equity, interest rate, and FX risk embedded in liability FIA policies and the investment portfolio. Assist with structuring, execution, and management of the firm’s derivatives portfolio.
· Support new product/index design initiatives from the Retail team. Assist portfolio managers with new investment hedging design. Assess environment and market factors to generate hedge ideas and support the firm’s asset/liability management.
· Review and monitoring of existing hedge programs to identify opportunities for better hedge effectiveness. Summarize hedging P&L and risk metrics to support the broader insurance organization in monthly and quarterly reporting cycles.
· Create hedging tool in Excel/Python to streamline hedging processes.
· Communicate key hedging metrics to operations, accounting and other internal departments for seamless integration.
Competencies
· Derivative product knowledge (vanilla options, futures, and swaps) and understanding of option models required.
· Advanced quantitative/analytical ability, experience in Python or other programming languages preferred.
· Familiarity with Clearwater, Bloomberg and other financial tools.
· Derivative accounting knowledge a plus (GAAP/STAT).
· Natural self-starter with appreciation for fast-paced dynamic environment and problem-solving.
Required Education and Experience- Analyst Level
- Bachelor's Degree in STEM, Finance, or a closely related field.
- 1 year experience in the derivatives space (e.g. sell-side sales & trading, hedging function at insurance companies and asset managers).
Required Education and Experience- Associate Level (in addition to Analyst level requirements)
· Master's degree or higher in a relevant field.
· 3 years of relevant experience.
Supervisory Responsibility
· This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time hybrid position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional hours as needed to complete work and ensure operations/business is not interrupted or slowed.
