Dermatology Surgical Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dermatology Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting dermatologists in providing high-quality patient care. This position involves assisting with various clinical tasks, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining an organized and efficient office environment.

Duties

• Assist dermatologists during examinations and procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are prepared and available. Must have experience as a surgical assistant in MOHS procedures.
• Take and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
• Provide medical administrative support by scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and handling insurance documentation.
• Educate patients on skincare routines and post-procedure care instructions.
• Maintain a clean and sterile environment in accordance with health regulations.
• Monitor patients during treatments to ensure their safety and comfort.
• Utilize medical terminology effectively to communicate with healthcare professionals.
• Support outpatient care by preparing patients for visits and following up on treatment plans.
• Respond to emergencies as needed, applying basic life support techniques when required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of hospital medicine, emergency medicine, and outpatient care practices is preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to dermatology is essential.
• Understanding of physiology knowledge as it pertains to skin health.
• Experience in patient care settings is highly desirable.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is a plus.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team while maintaining a professional demeanor.
