Job Description

Job Summary :

The Electrical Construction Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing safety protocols and ensuring compliance with safety regulations on construction sites that involve electrical work. The primary role is to protect workers, contractors, and others on the site from electrical hazards and other safety risks associated with construction projects.

Key Responsibilities :

1.       Safety Program Development :

  • Develop, implement, and enforce safety programs and policies tailored to electrical construction sites.
  • Ensure safety programs comply with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA standards, NFPA 70E, National Electrical Code).
  • Implement hazard assessments, job safety analyses (JSAs), and risk mitigation strategies specifically for electrical hazards.

2.       Training and Education :

  • Conduct regular safety training on electrical safety practices, personal protective equipment (PPE), safe use of tools, fall protection,                 lockout / tagout (LOTO) procedures, and emergency response plans.
  • Ensure that all workers, from electricians to general laborers, are trained in electrical safety and aware of potential hazards.
  • 3.       Site Inspections and Audits :

  • Perform regular site inspections to ensure that electrical systems, tools, and equipment are safe and compliant with all safety                          standards.
  • Monitor electrical work conditions to identify potential hazards, unsafe practices, or faulty equipment.
  • Document and report safety issues, and work with project managers to resolve them.
  • 4.       Incident Investigation and Reporting :

  • Investigate accidents, injuries, or near-misses related to electrical hazards, and determine root causes.
  • Prepare detailed incident reports and recommend corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Ensure all accidents or safety violations are properly reported according to regulations. The findings from the investigations help                      determine the cause of the accident, and the documentation often serves as a critical part of the workers’ compensation claim.
  • 5.       Coordination with Insurance Providers :

  • The safety manager may collaborate with the HR Department to provide details to the insurance carrier to provide details about the                incident, ensuring accurate reporting and the nature of the injury is clearly understood.
  • 6.       Compliance Management :

  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, including lockout / tagout procedures, electrical shock protection, grounding, and                 arc flash safety.
  • Stay updated on changes to electrical safety codes (e.g., NEC, NFPA 70E) and ensure that all safety procedures are aligned with the               latest regulations.
  • If a worker is injured and files a compensation claim, the safety manager will help assess whether proper safety protocols and PPE                were in place, or if the injury could have been prevented. This evaluation can impact the claims process, especially if there is a                        question of negligence or whether the company followed safety regulations.
  • 7.       Return to Work Program :

  • Assisting injured workers transition back to work safely. This involves evaluating job tasks for potential accommodations, working with            healthcare providers to understand limitations, and ensuring the workplace is safe for a returning employee.
  • 8.       Emergency Response and Preparedness :

  • Develop and implement emergency response plans for electrical accidents, including electrocution, fires, and explosions.
  • Ensure that emergency equipment (e.g., first-aid kits, fire extinguishers, electrical rescue kits) is available and that workers are trained            to use it in case of an emergency.
  • 9.       Collaboration with Teams :

  • Work closely with project managers, foremen, and other safety personnel to ensure that safety procedures are integrated into the                    planning, design, and execution phases of electrical construction projects.
  • Lead safety meetings and toolbox talks to keep everyone informed about potential hazards and safety protocols.
  • 10.   Reporting and Documentation :

  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, incidents, and compliance audits.
  • Prepare regular safety reports for senior management, highlighting potential risks, safety performance, and improved                                        recommendations.
  • Following an injury, additional safety measures may be implemented to prevent future incidents.
  • Key Skills and Qualifications :
