Fab-Fusion Technician 1

JOB SUMMARY:

A Fab-Fusion Technician 1 is a safety conscious, hardworking individual that is dedicated to performing various tasks associated with fabricating HDPE fittings. Technicians perform tasks involving physical labor in a controlled environment shop as well as in an outside environment in the pipe yard. This includes operating fusion equipment, forklifts and telehandlers, band saws, hand tools, power tools, and assisting with various tasks. Whether working alone, or assisting a team member(s), our technicians have the professionalism and technical skill to get the job done right.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Understand and follow all safety policies and apply good safety practices
• Perform pre-operation equipment inspections per machine before each use
• Operate company vehicles and equipment, such as small engine trucks, forklifts, and aerial lifts
• Keep work area, pipe yard and equipment clean
• Ability to cut, machine, and fuse HDPE pipe to produce fittings per industry standards
• Determine whether final product meets quality control standards
• Ability to operate a fusion data recording device
• Report any equipment maintenance schedules and repairs to Production Manager.
• Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to perform and obtain fusion certificate on HDPE pipe up to 24”
• Excellent team-working and communication.

• Ability to perform basic math.
• Ability to complete KPA reports on fitting fusions
• Operation of company machines and equipment
• Ability to read and follow technical instructions
• Verbal/Written Communication
• Strong time management skills

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATION:

• 2 years of related experience, preferred.
• Ability to pass safety and fusion training courses and maintain certifications

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Enclosed climate controlled shop, outdoor storage yard
• Occasional high noise level, dust, fumes such as fuel or exhaust may be encountered.
• Sometimes exposed to inclement weather while working outside.
• Ability to work around moving equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to stand, sit, stoop, reach with arms, kneel and push/pull/lift 50 pounds.
• Stooping, crouching, kneeling.
• Must take necessary precautions to protect eyes, nose and skin from irritation and infection.
• Ability to wear PPE.
• Prolonged periods standing while fusing.
• Must be able to physically perform repairs in various environments
• Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
• Good vision to inspect repair work.
• Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Reaching overhead, at or below shoulder level.

Standing for extended periods of time.
