Manufacturing Expeditor/Buyer
Description: We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our new Manufacturing Department as a Manufacturing Expeditor/Buyer. This dynamic role involves coordinating and expediting the flow of materials, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring timely procurement to meet project deadlines. The ideal candidate will have previous purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment, possess strong negotiation skills, and demonstrate proficiency in MRP/ERP software.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and expedite the flow of materials, parts, and assemblies within or between departments to meet production and shipping schedules.
Review production schedules and work orders to determine material requirements and priorities.
Negotiate with suppliers to meet purchasing objectives and place purchase orders and repair orders for outside processing.
Compile and maintain records, such as material inventory, in-process production reports, and status and location of materials.
Assess progress and discuss needed changes with department supervisors and personnel.
Requisition and maintain inventories of materials or supplies necessary to meet production demands.
Ensure materials meet quality standards and specifications.
Collaborate with suppliers and mitigate any quality issues.
Purchase raw materials, consumable goods, and common hardware.
Requirements:
Previous purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
Procurement experience in raw materials, consumables, and common hardware.
Planning and scheduling experience.
Proficiency in MRP/ERP software, Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Teams.
Understanding of manufacturing drawings, processes, and machine shop practices.
Experience with an annual spend in the range of $5-$10 million.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Procurement experience for a manufacturing company building capital equipment is a plus.
Must be flexible and willing to work overtime and weekends to meet production needs.
Skills:
Strong work ethic.
Ability to work alone and as part of a collaborative team.
High level of attention to detail.
Knowledge of basic math for measurements and calculations.
Familiarity with warehouse operations and material handling.
Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
Proficient in using simple hand tools for various tasks.
