Primary Objective
The Urodynamic Technician is responsible for maintaining professional standards while providing excellent patient care. These responsibilities include performing effective and efficient urodynamic and video urodynamic testing, patient education, assisting with research studies, and working with the day-to-day functions within the Center for Continence Care. The Urodynamic Technician also provides assistance to the physician and travels to satellite clinics as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide direct patient care for routine urodynamic testing including catheterization's with attention of preventing infections.
- Provide direct patient care and assistance to the physician during video urodynamics.
- Assist physician with the interpretation of urodynamic studies.
- Assist with addition procedures performed during urodynamic testing including, cystoscopy, bladder ultrasound, vaginal/rectal exams and catheterization.
- Do simple urinalysis, including appropriate collection and handling of specimens.
- Provide education to the patient.
- Maintain urodynamic equipment and troubleshoot equipment problems.
- Assist with research studies under the direction of the Research Coordinator; including such responsibilities as following research protocol, data collection, patient follow-up and record keeping.
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED
- Trained in Urodynamics.
- Graduate of an accredited program of LPN's/Medical Assistants (MA's must pass certification examination within 1 year of start date).
