What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Driver position at Mission Neighborhood Centers?
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Senior Program Driver Commercial Licensed Driver (CDL) will operate a minibus that will transport older adults, and other authorized personnel safely and efficiently over specified routes to and from the Senior Center, other MNC locations and various sites related to activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Functions
- Transport passengers to and from destinations related to program activities, events and meetings within the established time and schedules.
- Regulate heating, cooling and ventilation equipment provided on the bus for the comfort of the passengers.
- Operate the vehicle in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner.
- Perform pre/post trip vehicle inspections.
- Will be required to assist in the boarding and disembarking of passengers using mobility aids and properly secure them.
- Assist clients in a prompt, helpful, courteous and compassionate manner.
- Observes safety regulations and state laws regarding vehicle operations; ensures passengers also follow applicable safety regulations.
- Communicates with Manager and/or Activities Coordinator by phone to receive requests for passenger services.
- Ensure vehicle equipment such as brakes, lights, windshield wipers, etc., is maintained and operates properly.
- Reports vehicle problems to Manager to properly arrange appointment with a mechanic.
- Ensure that vehicle mileage and maintenance logs are current.
- Submits accident and incidents reports when needed as soon as possible. (no more than one day after the accident).
- Conducts routine maintenance on vehicles including adding gasoline, oil, and water and checking tire pressure; ensures more specialized maintenance and repairs are performed.
- Available to work flexible hours with availability during the typical workday 8:30am- 5:00pm Mon-Fri.
- Assist and support all Senior Center activities.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Reporting and Documentation.
- All reporting and documentation will be submitted to the manager for proper recording.

- Being able to move and carry items little more than 25 pounds for activities and special events.

- Partner with supervisor when necessary to address department issues or concerns.
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: HS Diploma or equivalent with experience serving elderly people.
Experience: Required 3 years work experience in interacting with seniors and disabled adults preferred, as well as transporting people. Commitment to social action, social justice, civic engagement, and leadership development.
Requirements:
Must have a valid Class C Drivers License, clean DMV printout and proof of auto insurance. Excellent and clean driving record
Knowledge of Citys streets, parks and main buildings
Must be able to pass a drug or alcohol test and submit to random testing during employment. Current Physical Health Screening (every 2 years thereafter)
Fingerprinting Clearance (DOJ)
Current Immunizations (Covid, Influenza) (must be kept current) Current CPR & First Aid Certificate (every 2 years thereafter)
Language(s): Preferable Bilingual English/Spanish, English/Cantonese and Mandarin

Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet Explorer, Google Suite (Calendar, Meets, Docs, Sheets, etc.) Comfortable with learning new skills, tools and processes, Experience of operating various devices (desktops, laptops, tablets, smartphones, iPhone/iPad, Chromebooks, etc.)
Decision Making: Set priorities and standards of performance; Develop plans by which work can be accomplished, demonstrate a strong ability to analyze problems and ability to perform and communicate; being able to use your reasoning in any decision-making.
Tools and Equipment: Ability to work with automobile tools and equipment.
Confidential and Sensitive Information: Maintain the highest level of confidentiality between programs, team members, clients and it is a must when dealing with client records.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to sit approximately 80% of the time, walk 5% of the time and stand 15% of the time. Long periods of sitting, driving. The employee is required to use hands and fingers to type or handle, feel, and operate objects. The employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. Ability to assist in the movement of mobile and semi-mobile program participants required. Specific vision abilities of this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
