Essential Duties
Resident Assistants will be working from May 29 – June 14, 2024.
Note: May 29 – May 31 will be mandatory training days..
Minimum Qualifications
Job Description Summary
- Supervision of a residence hall wing (approximately 15 scholars)
- Planning, assisting, and supervising during recreational activities, events, and programs.
- Assist with logistics support and check in/out
- Perform administrative and office duties as needed
- Take stock of office supplies and other materials
- Reconcile forms and collects data
- Distribution of mail
- Distribution of materials to classrooms, etc.
- Chaperoning field trips.
- Attending daily staff meeting (with director and assistant director)
- Attending daily dorm meetings (with head RA and other RA’s)
- Facilitate wing meetings every evening
- Plan and engage scholars in team building activities (for wing)
- Relay information as appropriate to scholar
- Report problems immediately (homesickness, maintenance issues, interpersonal conflicts, depression, any other concerns)
- Enforce lights-out
- Be on time for and fully participate in evening activities
Resident Assistants will be working from May 29 – June 14, 2024.
Note: May 29 – May 31 will be mandatory training days..
- Availability for the entire period of the program
- Desire to work with high school age scholars
- Word processing skills
- Ability to work well with others for extended periods of time
- 18 years of age (20 preferred)
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Preference will be given to former Mississippi Governor’s School (MGS) scholars, individuals with experience working with gifted students, individuals with demonstrated leadership experience, and those who have completed at least two years of college.
Residence Hall Advisors (RA’s) supervise in the residence halls and also assist with planning and supervising various events during the program, move from event to event with Mississippi Governor’s School scholars, and plan and supervise evening meetings.
