What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Professor, 9 month appointment (Technical Director) position at Missouri State University?
Description of Primary Duties
Serves as technical director for Theatre and Dance departments mainstage season, as well as teaching courses in stagecraft (beginning and advanced), technical direction and other courses in the area of the candidates expertise. Maintains safety and functionality of equipment and advises on technical needs of the department. Works in shop as needed and collaborates with production and artistic staff to plan, budget, and carry out production related goals, including drafting and budgeting builds as necessary. Mentors students in technical areas as needed and serves as resource for students on production related matters. Opportunity for additional summer contract to work with Tent Theatre.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Assistant Professor are prescribed in the Faculty Handbook. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
Additional Qualifications
Terminal degree required. MFA in Theatre with emphasis on technical direction required. At least two years experience as technical director required. Teaching experience in stagecraft required. Ability to work closely with others in a team required.
