Description
Momentum is seeking a seasonal Summer Camp Assistant Manager (SCAM) to perform various organizational and communication tasks within our Summer Camp programs. The SCAM supports its supervisor, the Youth Program Manager (YPM), to ensure the efficient operation of summer camps. This role requires the ability to effectively communicate with employees, program participants, and their parents. Many responsibilities are time-sensitive, so excellent time management skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize work are essential.
The Summer Camp Assistant Manager will facilitate Momentum Summer camps from May through August. This role is responsible for staff management, scheduling, risk management, and parent communications within summer camps. The SCAM must understand the curriculum and expectations for both counselors and participants.
The Youth Program Manager reserves the right to assign tasks based on location-specific needs.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership
- Lead by example by modeling the Coach's Code of Conduct and following company policies while on shift.
- Promote a productive and positive workplace culture by being supportive, showing gratitude to coworkers, and promoting positive communication.
- Give constructive feedback to counselors based on observations of their camp sessions.
- Field camp-related customer service inquiries or issues.
- Support Camp Counselors with their daily tasks and facilitation of camp activities
- Report regularly to YPM on progress, results, and challenges related to tasks and projects.
- Fill in as a counselor as needed due to a lack of staff.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and work with YPM to design and implement solutions.
Managing Risk
- Ensure all counselors and participants are following the Codes of Conduct.
- Tactfully address safety concerns with employees and participants and mentor other employees to do the same.
- Process and report all incidents that occur during programs according to company policy.
- Be attentive during all camp activities and report any observed risks or safety concerns to the YPM.
Weekly Recurring Responsibilities
- Schedule staff and assist employees when they need coverage for a scheduled shift.
- Ensure that the proper staffing ratios are met for each scheduled camp session.
- When applicable, review employee time clocks each payroll for accuracy.
- Field all incoming parent summer camp questions and concerns.
- Ensure camps are fully stocked with supplies and weekly snacks.
- Support camp check-in and check-out at the front desk.
- Manage camp rosters, ensuring each participant is paid in full and has a waiver on file.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- Full-time Seasonal, 40 hours per week.
- Hourly Compensation begins at $20/hour DOE
- 7:30 am-11:30 am & 12:30-4:30 pm shifts, one hour lunch break 11:30 am-12:30 pm

Requirements
REQUIREMENTS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Experience, Skills, and Certifications
- Must have at least 2 years of climbing experience and strong enthusiasm for climbing.
- Experience in teaching and/or coaching is required.
- Experience in bouldering, sport climbing, and traditional climbing is preferred.
- Basic phone and computer skills. Familiarity with GSuite preferred.
- Experience with RGP preferred.
- Excellent time management skills, organization, and the ability to multitask and prioritize work.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Displays a strong sense of empathy and patience when handling child, parent, and staff communication
Environmental and Physical Demands
- Work in a loud and high-volume gym environment every shift.
- Able to move up and down the climbing wall and be comfortable at height.
- Able to balance, kneel, pull, push, and grasp objects as needed.
- Continuously stand and walk on unstable and uneven surfaces.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Instruct and give directions to large groups of people.
- Sit for extended periods of time while working on a computer.
