What are the responsibilities and job description for the ADULT LEARNER COORDINATOR position at Monroe County Community College?
Position Summary
The Adult Learner Coordinator will oversee the campus and community activities centered around the adult learner population, with a focus in the Orchard East community of Monroe. The person in this position will represent Monroe County Community College at community events, in the community and ensure that the voices and needs of our adult learners are heard and reflected in college resources and activities. The Adult Learner Coordinator develops, implements and supports the daily services to students and is responsible for the maintenance of records, evaluation of activities, and preparation of reports related to activities and projects. Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Student Success, the Adult Learner Success Coordinator is a collaborative services role focused on community outreach, adult learner connection, intervention and preparation for identified current and prospective students.
THIS IS A TWO-YEAR, GRANT-FUNDED POSITION.
Essential Job Functions
1. Provides the essential adult learner student services by being knowledgeable about campus and community resources, navigating services and supporting adult learners both on and off campus.
2. Works collaboratively with the Office of Institutional Research to conduct appropriate community outreach and engagement for evaluation of area needs.
3. Advocates for the needs and interests of the adult learner population both on campus and within the community.
4. Develop relationships within the community to share knowledge of programs, events and supportive services offered through Monroe County Community College.
5. Maintaining electronic enrollment notes for all students and using information in the CRM system to support students appropriately.
6. Build and strengthen relationships with local schools and community organizations, clearly and frequently communicate with them to update them, request support, and compiles required input.
7. Assists in ensuring the success of academic support across campus by referring academic concerns/barriers and connecting students to appropriate academic resources including tutoring, Disability Services, mental health services, emergency support, Writing Center, and other program opportunities.
8. Facilitate the development and delivery of workshops targeted at adult learners covering a variety of topics such as financial literacy, career and/or college readiness, soft skills, community and campus resources and any other relevant topics.
9. Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
10. Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as directed by the supervisor.
11. Executes responsibilities in accordance with applicable laws and the College’s policies, which includes the Code of Ethics.
12. Attendance at community events is expected during non-traditional business hours including some evenings and weekends.
13. Contributes to the overall success of Division of Student Success by performing other duties as assigned.

- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
