Music Makerspace Intern - grades 6-12
Montgomery County ESC is seeking a motivated college student who is interested in working with an innovative alternative school program for students in need of a supportive and enriched environment. The Future Self Center (FSC) focuses on restorative practices, STEM education, and hands-on learning. The Music Makerspace Intern will introduce and engage students with standard musical instruments (guitar, bass, drums, keyboard), audio recording, podcasting, beat making, and related media. This position will require planning activities to introduce students to music making and songwriting, practice sessions with instruments, jamming with students, organization, and upkeep of the music lab, and use of basic recording software for project work. The position will be supported by FSC core staff who will provide additional supervision and guidance within the music lab. Ideal candidates will have direct experience with music making, teaching or student support (camps, daycare, tutoring, etc.), and use of audio and media tools. Applicants who are focused on careers in music, teaching, counseling, social work, and other service-focused fields are highly encouraged to apply.
Assignment: Future Self Center located at MCESC Learning Center North, 2251 Timber Lane, Dayton, OH
Part-Time: 10-15 hours per week
Rate of pay: $20/hr
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Graduate
Actively enrolled in a college/university program
Experience with music and working with students
