About the Role The Morningstar Digital Team is looking for an exceptionally talented Senior Designer who is deeply passionate about the craft of design in support of premier and best-in-class digital experiences. In this role, you will lead design activities and produce design artifacts to support digital experiences across our domains. Our Design Culture The Morningstar Design Team is dedicated to creating thoughtfully designed financial products and services so that people across the world can make the best investing decisions for themselves and their clients. We synthesize complex financial information into experiences that empower our users to deliver better outcomes. The design organization is made up of several disciplines—visual, UX, communications, content, and research—united to help each other, and the whole company grow. We’re always seeking designers who are motivated, are driven to deliver user-centered outcomes, and are equally committed to craft and empathy. Day to Day: Design a wide variety of digital content, landing pages, case studies, videos, social media, blog posts, demand campaigns, and digital sales collateral. Own all parts of the design process from discovery, definition, and development to deliver engaging B2B solutions. Demonstrating core design skills—especially concerning typography, composition, information hierarchy, and data visualization—to create delightful, engaging experiences that reinforce the Morningstar brand. Solving challenging information and communication design problems and being able to present multiple concepts for consideration, with sound rationale. Gather, synthesize, and define the vision for next-generation digital experiences. Collaborate on competitive assessments and gather all necessary inputs to inform a strategy or vision. Defend design solutions to cross-functional teams, be open to feedback and know how and when to defend design choices. Incorporate and evolve Morningstar design systems, brand standards, and experiences while educating both stakeholders and engineers. Connect and communicate with other design teams within Morningstar. Qualifications: Must have strong background with experience creating a range of interfaces, large-scale websites, or applications. Collaborative experience leading projects that consider innovation and usability; someone who listens and anticipates the needs, concerns, and input from multiple teams. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in digital/visual design, a related field, or equivalent experience. 5 years of experience in research and design for digital products and interactions, large-scale websites, or applications. Knowledge of design methodology and practices, and solid understanding of information architecture, web usability, and best-in-class user-experience design. Demonstrated design skills, especially concerning information hierarchy, typography, and data visualization. Ability to present design solutions to project teams and other stakeholders. Advanced experience with design and prototyping tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, etc. Knowledge of CMS platforms, HTML, and CSS is a plus. Ability to be flexible and handle multiple projects and re-prioritizations. Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills; self-directed, comfortable working independently, and able to thrive in a rapidly changing environment. A deep curiosity and desire to learn new technologies and methods and build great products. Have an enthusiastic and engaging presentation style and visual communication skills.
