Special Education Paraprofessional

Overview
The Special Education Paraprofessional plays a crucial role in supporting students with diverse learning needs. This position will provide instructional support to students with an IEP with emotional and behavioral challenges, and involves working closely with teachers to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and assist in the educational development of students. The ideal candidate will be passionate about fostering an inclusive learning environment and committed to enhancing the educational experience of all students.

Responsibilities

· Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans tailored to meet the individual needs of students.

· Support the students in their daily activities, ensuring they can participate fully in classroom learning and social interactions.

· Help manage classroom behavior and provide guidance to the students, promoting positive social skills and emotional development.

· Facilitate communication between students and staff.

· Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers regarding student performance and behavior.

· Collaborate with other staff members to create a supportive educational environment for students.

· Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills related to special education.

Experience

· Previous experience working with individuals with emotional and behavioral challenges is highly desirable.

· Familiarity with IEPs and special education practices is preferred.

· Knowledge of childhood development principles is essential for effectively supporting student growth.

· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team are crucial for success in this role.

· Experience with verbal de-escalation and CPI certification preferred.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.25 - $17.75 per hour
