What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Programs Specialist position at Mountaire Farms?

Primary Purpose

Coordinate, schedule, support, and update all technical skills development programs to include Maintenance Skills Training, Driver Finishing Program, Maintenance Trainee Program, and Wastewater Program. Partner with Human Resources and business leaders to ensure programs are aligned with the company strategy and values.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the Maintenance Skills Training Program. Coordinate training plans and schedules with Maintenance teams, local Training teams, Human Resources, vendors, and community colleges. Schedule classes at least 3 months in advance, targeting 50 classes and 400-420 seats annually. Communicate rosters, times, dates, and locations with all stakeholders. Coordinate attendance and lunch with Human Resources. Follow up on class results and update records in Docebo and master Training Plan. Distribute and track profile and skills confirmation sheets. Issue certificates and coordinate with Human Resources on classification changes. Some weekend work required for instructor setup. Monthly check-ins with leadership on training progress and needs.
  • Oversee the Maintenance Trainee Program across the organization (NC and DE). Source, hire, and onboard trainees into a 6-month program with five formal courses and hands-on preventative maintenance experience. Collaborate with department leaders to ensure trainees meet skill requirements and rotate effectively. Schedule and monitor trainee progress through monthly meetings, providing guidance and support. Manage transitions between training stages and maintain oversight of trainee development. Coordinate and manage all necessary vendors for program success.
  • Manage the Driver Finishing Program to recruit and hire qualified CDL drivers. Partner with Talent Acquisition to hire trainee drivers. Schedule and coordinate the Train the Trainer program to ensure sufficient certified trainers. Work with trainers to ensure trainees become qualified drivers within the allotted timeframe. Update qualification guidelines as needed. Build relationships with local community colleges (e.g., Del Tech, Wor-Wic, Robeson County Community College (RBCC), Central Carolina Community College (CCCC)) to support enrollment in CDL training programs. Present on college campuses, engage with students, and coordinate visits. Strengthen relationships with colleges in regions where new facilities are being built (e.g., Bridgeville Feed Mill - Chesapeake Community College). Through these partnerships, establish a strong presence and build a pipeline of future talent.
  • Manage the Wastewater certification program. Partner with community colleges in Delaware (DE) and North Carolina (NC) to support and coordinate Wastewater Operator Certification programs. Schedule courses to align with state requirements and facilitate training access. Build relationships with NC community colleges for future needs. Present on campuses, engage with students, and coordinate visits. Update the program to maintain a talent pipeline. Ensure maximum course capacity and seek business feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Track and maintain key performance indicators (KPI) associated with each technical skills program. Collect, analyze and maintain data gathered to inform targeted technical development and talent needs. Drive improvements based on the KPI data.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2 - 4 years’ relevant experience in technical program project/process management.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong ability to build relationships.
  • Providing excellent internal and external customer service must be a strength.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or other Process or Project Management background/certification preferred.
  • Moderate travel (25%) to support the various locations.
