Credit Administrator

Summary

The Credit Administrator is responsible for evaluating and decisioning credit requests for assigned commercial lending units, encompassing various loan types. Responsibilities include monitoring the credit quality of the assigned portfolio, ensuring adherence to established risk parameters and regulatory and credit policies, providing guidance to lending officers on credit risk management, and contributing to the development of underwriters, credit analysts, and other credit evaluation personnel. This position also assesses the effectiveness of portfolio management, behavioral monitoring, and reporting.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Evaluates credit requests to assess creditworthiness, considering loan quality, risk classification, structure, collateral analysis, pricing, and policy adherence. Approves or declines credit requests within assigned authority. Analyzes and recommends approval / declination of requests exceeding assigned authority.
  • Reviews and assesses the completeness, accuracy, and effectiveness of credit policies and procedures. Recommends policy changes for approval and oversees implementation. Ensures loan compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Periodically reviews loan portfolio reporting with assigned teams to ensure appropriate loan classification and risk trend identification. Monitors loan portfolio quality and exposures, escalating concerns and providing guidance on corrective actions for quality portfolio management.
  • Actively participates in evaluating adversely classified credits, recommending or approving action plans within delegated authority. Collaborates with lending officers to identify and evaluate problem loan resolution alternatives.
  • Participates in loan review and compliance reviews, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and recurrence is prevented. Reviews reports to monitor delinquencies, accrual exceptions, and overdrafts.
  • Supports compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, regulatory guidance, and administrative duties.
  • Adheres to all risk management, operational, and credit policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements.

  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial credit decisioning and portfolio management experience required.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including data collection, analysis, and conclusion drawing.
  • Experience with loan origination or credit risk management systems preferred.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and proficiency in Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
