MRV Banks is Hiring a Personal Banker II Near Ste Genevieve, MO

Reports to: Banking Center Manager

Classification: Full-Time/Non Exempt
Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm (with rotating every 5th Saturday, 8am -noon)

Summary/Objective: The focus of this position is working with and through others, building and maintaining relationships, and working closely and accurately within established guidelines. There is a need for an effective communicator, someone who is able to stimulate and motivate others while being aware of and responsive to their needs and concerns. There will be many different people to meet and work with. The person in this position must be friendly and genuinely interested in the business, agenda, and needs of others, including the company, its management, the team, the company's customers, or all of the above. A persuasive, teaching style of communication is required to communicate the company's policies, programs, and systems. A faster-than-average pace will be the norm for this position. Detail work is a major focus of the job, and those details need to be handled quickly, correctly, and efficiently. This portion of the work will often focus on relationships with others; correct handling of details dealing with others is necessary to maintain and grow relationships. If the job involves managing others, following up carefully, closely, and cheerfully is required to ensure both correct work and maintenance of the relationships. Necessary corrections must be made in a constructive, supportive manner. As time is usually a factor, the work must be done on time, as well as correctly. In general, this is a position where guidelines, structure, and established policies must be followed fairly closely, while working with and for others.

Essential Functions

  • Very socially-focused; requires "how can I help you?" attitude with lots of attention spent on building and maintaining relationships, especially where helping, not pressuring, others fosters the relationship.
  • Adherence to established guidelines and procedures is important . Sometimes this involves others in the decision-making; there is a need to build consensus rather than make decisions alone.
  • Open, flowing communication is important, meaning this position requires working with and through others, especially in a helping role.
  • There is a need for a persuasive, "selling" (rather than "telling") communication style.
  • Team environment: leader must be willing to jump in and roll up his/her sleeves to help out when necessary. 
  • Strong, friendly follow-up necessary on tasks delegated to ensure proper results.
  • Each day different from the next; especially in personal interactions this is a fast-paced environment with multiple projects going simultaneously.
  • Develops new customer relationships and/or retains and expands existing relationships by proactively identifying customer opportunities utilizing fundamentals of cross-selling to achieve personal and branch goals;
  • Participates in a welcoming lobby experience, working with or directing customers to an appropriate team member based upon their identified needs and encourages utilization of products when necessary;
  • Takes ownership of the customer experience, including opening accounts, cross-selling other products and resolving issues as appropriate;
  • Builds new customer relationships through frequent interactions with customers; proactively contacts customers to ensure customer satisfaction;
  • Proactively educates customers on utilizing available access channels;
  • Actively participates in business development opportunities (e.g. phone out-reach, community events or groups, meetings with local businesses) to establish visibility in the community and drive business to the branch;
  • Assists in resolving difficult customer situations effectively, while delivering friendly customer service and ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction;
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of bank policy and procedures required, including but not limited to processing retail and commercial transactions, ATM/ITM settlement, night depository, vault cash, safe deposit, opening/closing procedures, ordering cash, and preparation of cash for shipment and receipt of cash shipment;
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of bank regulatory requirements included but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Customer Privacy and Information Security;
  • Maintains proficiency in all bank products and services throughout all delivery channels including; but not limited to, deposit products and electronic services as well as loan products;
  • Receive and pay out money. Keep records of money and negotiable instruments with various transactions;
  • Maintains trustworthiness, character, professionalism, confidentiality and honesty in dealing with internal or external customers;
  • Adheres to MRV standards, supporting a favorable environment for open communication and addresses concerns or problems in an open manner;
  • Research and resolve customer problems, acting as the customer liaison between other bank departments when necessary;
  • Maintain the bank’s files for currency transaction reports, customer safekeeping receipts, loan and trust collateral receipts, commercial resolutions, powers of attorney, court orders, levies, miscellaneous deposit documentation and general correspondence;
  • May assist the operations processing specialist by verifying the accuracy of document images;
  • Each branch is unique in their market, function and operations, so specific duties may vary according to location and will be addressed accordingly; and,
  • Completes and performs any other duties as assigned.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as cash recyclers, computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Effective Written and Oral Communication Skills

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • Bank or Professional Office Experience Preferred
  • Deposit bank experience.
