Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and driven Marketing and Community Outreach Officer to join our team.

The Marketing and Community Outreach Officer is responsible for the direction and management of the marketing operations and promotion of the bank's products, services, and brand. As well as directing community outreach functions. The position oversees marketing and implements corporate initiatives to attain the bank's objectives.

The following duties are intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities and ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by employees in this classification. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop the annual marketing and communication plan and budget in support of the overall bank business plan. Lead marketing strategies for the bank.
  • Direct and oversee the marketing function to implement corporate initiatives that have both marketing and bank wide impact.
  • Lead sales and business development through effective marketing and internal/ external communications.
  • Develop and manage sales campaigns for deposit, loans and new business. Work closely with other departments within the bank to fully represent all bank initiatives.
  • Promote and professionally represent the bank in the community.
  • Ensure that bank communications are compliant with Federal, State and local regulations, in close cooperation with the Compliance department.
  • Manage the bank's advertising agency and/or other external service providers.
  • Oversee creation and display of promotional materials in branches.
  • Manage design and production of the annual Corporator’s report and other materials.
  • Manage market research programs.
  • Manage Marketing and Communications staff to ensure all programs and activities are successful and within budget.
  • Represent the bank with community and civic organizations.
  • Direct internal and external events, including employee activities.
  • This position requires attendance outside of normal business hours.
  • Complete online, written and in-person compliance training within established timeframes.
  • Work with the CEO to direct charitable donations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include scheduling hours, interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; conduct performance evaluation; working with HR to address work related issues.
  • Ensure employees complete compliance training within established timeframes; understand and implement compliance requirements applicable to their positions.

Qualifications

Education

Associate’s degree in marketing, public relations or communications.

Experience

  • Ten years of experience in marketing and/or communications in a competitive environment, with experience in both disciplines preferred. Financial services industry experience highly desirable.
  • Experience managing budgets and multi-faceted marketing & communication programs.
  • Must be able to demonstrate business acumen and community involvement.
  • Must understand and can implement applicable compliance requirements.

Knowledge & Communication Skills

  • Excellent public relations and business writing skills. Must have ability to communicate on interpersonal and group level, including regular communication with senior managers, executives and the Board of Trustees.
  • Ability to communicate complex/ technical information in understandable terms and interpret high level concepts.
  • Must know the interior and Alaska community, including local economics, politics and community dynamics.

Analytical & Decision Making Skills

  • Assess complex problems, make critical decisions, and work independently with high initiative.
  • Ability to understand complex issues and adjust marketing plans based on changes in the marketplace.
  • Capacity to lead, make strategic decisions on an independent basis, and set a vision for long term objectives.

Computer/Software/Other Equipment Skills

  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to operate standard office equipment such as PC, printer, fax/ copier, and telephone.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Work is performed in a professional office environment.
