Pastor

Full-time pastor called by God to be the spiritual andadministrative leader of the congregation. The pastor is responsible to God and the church to proclaim the

gospel of Jesus Christ, to live holy, preach and teach the Holy Bible, to provide Christian leadership, and

to engage in pastoral care of the congregation.

 The pastor must be a bible believing married man (a husband of one wife), called of God and set apart to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ in accordance with the “Baptist Faith and Ordinances”. (1

Timothy 3:2-5)

 He must be a skilled leader, demonstrate a high level of competence, a man who is compassionate

and exemplifies a godly character.

 He must be filled with and led by the Holy Spirit.

 He must have completed bible school from an accredited or recognized bible school. A master’s

degree or higher will be preferred, but not required.

 He must be licensed and/or ordained by a recognized bible believing church.

 He must plan and conduct worship services, prepare sermons, and lead in observances of

ordinances.

 He must lead the congregation in effective programs to fulfill the mission and vision of the church

in accordance with biblical principles.

 He must educate, equip, inspire and edify the church into holy Christian living and assist members

in achieving their spiritual goals.

 He must conduct regular bible studies and oversee the Deacons office, all ministries or departments

of the church, coordinate trustees meeting and serve as the moderator and chair of church

conferences among other things.

 He should play an active role in nurturing the church’s growth, inspiring members to become more

involved, and reaching out to the community to bring new people into the congregation. (Matthew

28:16-20)

2. Updated and complete resume including detailed listing of ministerial and pastoral experiences

3. Half page (min 250 words) position statement each on (i) Abortion (ii) Same-sex marriage and (iii)

Woman as pastors

4. Three references:

a. Two (2) from pastors/clergy.

b. One (1) from lay person.
