The Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) seeks a Controller who will be a crucial part of our organization's financial operations, ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of our financial reporting. Reporting to the Deputy Director, Finance, your responsibilities will encompass leading the month-end closing process, producing comprehensive financial statements, managing grants and releases of temporary restricted funds, and recording receivables. We are seeking an experienced professional with a keen eye for detail to uphold financial integrity.

Compensation And Schedule
This is a full-time, exempt position with compensation between $115,000 - $125,000 per annum, depending upon experience. This is a 9:30am - 5:30pm, Monday through Friday onsite position.

Primary Responsibilities
Month-End Close
- Lead the month-end closing process, ensuring all financial activities are completed and recorded accurately and on time
- Calculate and record endowment activity
- Reconcile and record admission and store sales
- Reconcile Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge
- Maintain organized work papers and reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Maintain, calculate, and record fixed asset schedule
- anage disbursements, monitor outstanding checks, and help to oversee cash flow to optimize financial resources
- Calculate, manage, and record accounts receivable
- Calculate monthly sales tax due
- Produce monthly financial statements, including but not limited to the Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Activities with budget comparisons, Cash Flow Statement, and comprehensive memos highlighting significant financial information
- Produce departmental breakdowns of budget vs actuals reports
- Calculate, update, and record net asset roll forward schedule and temporary restricted fund releases
- aintain meticulous records of all grants and expenses and prepare grant expense reports and financial statements ensuring compliance with the requirements set forth by funders
- Update financial data on relevant reporting agency websites, ensuring timely and accurate submission of required information
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Assist with compiling supporting documentation for the annual audit
- Collaborate with finance and other external departmental staff
- Supervise Assistant Controller, serving as back up as necessary
- Report to Deputy Director, Finance, serving as backup as necessary
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Proficiency in Financial Edge NXT and Raiser’s Edge NXT.
- Experience with nonprofit organizational structure and accounting principles.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including lookups and pivot tables.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting and audit support.
- Ability to manage Accounting and Finance professionals effectively.
