What are the responsibilities and job description for the Piano Teacher position at Music4Kids?
We are looking for an experienced piano teacher who can teach private and/or group lessons on Mondays, Fridays, and possibly Saturdays (not required). Hours will vary depending upon student enrollment. Schedule is flexible and based upon your availability.
Starting Salary: $25-$27 per hour depending on education and experience. Teachers are considered for a salary increase at the first of each year following one full year of employment.
Requirements for teachers:
- Intermediate or advanced performance ability on your instrument.
- Performance experience on your instrument.
- Ability to read music for your instrument.
- An understanding of music theory important for your instrument.
- Love and respect for children and youth and enjoying spending time with them.
- One year of teaching experience is required. Professional development training is provided.
Our relationships with the families who take lessons and classes here are extremely important to us. We are looking for an individual who can communicate well with students, parents and grandparents - someone who loves children and people in general, loves music and believes in the importance of music making in the lives of individuals and families.
Responsiblities:
- Teach music lessons and classes
- Develop positive relationship with students and families
- Take attendance at each lesson/class
- Send practice assignments following the lesson using our online system
- Assist with planning and putting on Music4Kids performance events
- Participate in staff meetings and performance events (paid at an "extra duty" rate)
- Collaborate with other teachers and administrative staff regarding curriculum, schedules, and school policies & culture
