SUMMARY

The Material Management Manager has a strategic, detail-oriented, data-driven decision-making role within the organization. In this pivotal role, the Material Manager oversees all aspects of material management, ensuring optimal inventory levels and timely delivery of materials to support production and customer order fulfillment. The position is responsible for the development and maintaining material forecasting models in Blue Yonder Advance Warehouse Replenishment, conduct performance gap analyses, and collaborate closely with supply chain, production, and customer service teams to align inventory with demand.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Team Leadership: Oversee material management, providing training and support to enhance performance and develop skills. Foster a positive team environment focused on collaboration and customer satisfaction.
  • Material Forecasting: Develop, implement, and update robust material forecasting models using the Blue Yonder tool suite to predict inventory needs based on production schedules and customer demand.
  • Performance Analysis: Conduct performance gap analyses to identify discrepancies between forecasted and actual material usage, recommending improvements as necessary.
  • Inventory Management: Determine and recommend optimal inventory levels to maintain a balance between availability and cost efficiency. Monitor inventory turnover and implement strategies to minimize excess or obsolete stock.
  • Order Management: Place and manage product material orders based on forecasting needs, ensuring timely replenishment of inventory. Track material orders to guarantee timely delivery for production schedules and customer orders.
  • Lead-Time Coordination: Communicate estimated lead-times to the organization and ensure timely follow-up on any changes.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Consult with the supply chain team on material forecasts and supply availability, ensuring alignment with production requirements. Work closely with customer service representatives to communicate material lead-times and address any potential delays in supply. Coordinate with production teams to ensure alignment on product availability and scheduling.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of material usage, inventory levels, and order statuses, generating reports for management as needed.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process enhancements and efficiency improvements within the customer service function.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field; a master’s degree is a plus. Proven experience in materials management or supply chain roles with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial position, preferably in the manufacturing or distribution industry.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands for a Material Management Manager include the following:
