The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is seeking an experienced Accreditation Assessor to join the Early Learning Program team. As an Accreditation Assessor, you will play a critical role in supporting NAEYC's mission to promote high-quality early learning for children from birth through age 8. This position involves conducting site visits and virtual application reviews, collecting data, observing classrooms, and interviewing program staff to evaluate programs for NAEYC Accreditation.

NAEYC is a professional membership organization with 90 employees across the US, that works to promote high-quality early learning for each and every child, birth through age 8, by connecting early childhood practice, policy, and research. NAEYC advances a diverse, dynamic early childhood profession and supports all who care for, educate, and work on behalf of young children.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth site visits, including classroom observations and program reviews.
  • Facilitate data collection using electronic tools, assess program documentation, and complete virtual application reviews.
  • Conduct formal interviews with program staff and provide clear, detailed feedback.
  • Provide real-time feedback and technical assistance during site visits.
  • Organize and execute travel arrangements for site visits.
  • Complete administrative tasks related to site visit logistics.
  • Participate in ongoing training and reliability exercises to ensure consistent use of Early Learning Program data collection tools.
  • Continuously maintain reliability throughout employment.
  • Perform additional work-related tasks as assigned by the Manager of Accreditation, Assessment, and Evaluation.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree with coursework in child development, early childhood education, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience working in an education setting serving children from birth through age 8.
  • Familiarity with the NAEYC Accreditation process is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated observation skills, including the ability to be objective and unbiased while following protocol.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage professionally with program staff.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, maintain a positive demeanor, and manage the physical and mental demands of on-site assessments.
  • Strong technology skills, including data collection and navigating databases and systems.
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not required.

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 90% travel is required. Assessors will need to travel for site visits, which may include overnight stays of three or more days.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be comfortable with air, rail, and car travel.

Salary:

  • Salary for this position is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's experience and the prevailing compensation standards within the Washington, DC metro area

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to sit on the floor at child's eye level for extended periods.
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs and move throughout program facilities.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the role.

Position Designation/Business Continuity:

This role is eligible for telework. Telework and remote work eligibility is subject to NAEYC's Telework and Remote Work Policy. This role requires travel.

Salary : $65,000 - $80,000
