What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Support Manager position at National Firestopping Solutions?
The Field Support Manager (FSM) ensures that all NFS field staff have the appropriate safety training, tools, equipment, and confidence to perform their duties safely and efficiently. The FSM also oversees the physical and operational condition of the shop, company houses, and fleet vehicles. This position requires mechanical aptitude, self-motivation, and strong attention to detail, as part of the Field Operations team.
Inventory Tracking
- Record daily product movements in the tracking program and ongoing spreadsheet.
- Document product transfers between jobs.
- Procure, inventory, and recycle completed job products.
- Maintain warehouse labeling with expiration dates and job specifics.
- Quarantine and label expired products.
- Implement and maintain a FIFO storage system.
- Procure and receive general and job-specific products.
- Acquire miscellaneous job supplies (sheet metal, tape, poly, etc.).
Uniforms
- Order new uniforms for field staff after the approved waiting period.
- Manage size changes for existing uniforms.
- Act as the point person for all division’s uniform ordering.
Safety & Training
- Collaborate with RM to facilitate and organize training for field staff.
- Conduct Fall Protection, Powder Actuated Tool, and Asbestos Awareness training.
- Maintain training certifications in Procore/BambooHR and tracking spreadsheets.
- Ensure staff have proper PPE for jobs and confirm that ladders, fall protection, PPE, etc., are in good working order.
- Issue and maintain Weekly Safety Meetings.
- Keep current and accurate SDS for all company products.
Tools & Equipment
- Maintain, clean, and inspect non-issued tools.
- Purchase and outfit Technician-in-Training tool kits.
- Maintain par levels of general stock items.
- Clean and maintain containment booths.
- Clean, repair, and maintain airless sprayers.
- Work with field staff to diagnose sprayer issues and provide solutions.
- Keep maintenance records of all tools and equipment, including cleaning, repair, and servicing dates.
- Record keeping of tools/equipment sign-in/sign-out logs.
- Repair and maintain company tools and equipment.
Vehicle Fleet
- Maintain work/office fleet with regular oil changes, inspections, and repairs.
- Schedule, coordinate, and handle logistics for maintenance.
- Maintain vehicle records including registration, VIN, mileage, and inspection status.
- Renew annual vehicle registrations.
- Handle miscellaneous action items (lock outs, broken windows, breakdowns, AAA coordination).
- Coordinate with the management team on vehicle availability and scheduling.
Company Houses and Property
- Coordinate maintenance contractors and cleaning services.
- Check and maintain the general condition of company houses and ensure proper trash disposal.
Special Procedures
- Implement procedures for proper Haz-Mat disposal.
- Maintain EPA ID and implement Federally Regulated procedures for Haz-waste generators.
- Keep manifests from disposal companies.
- Participate in FM/UL audits.
Miscellaneous
- Schedule the emptying of onsite dumpsters.
- Deliver products and supplies to field staff as needed.
- Assist field staff with product questions/acquisition, tools, scheduling changes, and vehicle issues.
- Maintain clean and organized working spaces at all times.
