SAFETY MANAGER
SAFETY MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Candidate will be responsible for Safety/Health/Environmental support for shipyard and land-based operations supporting the shipyard. Safety Manager must be familiar with OSHA, environmental, USCG, safety and health program compliance with federal, state, and local regulations along with a working knowledge of OSHA 1915 Maritime Laws and Regulations along with knowledge of 1910 Regulations. The position of Safety Manager will oversee compliance with corporate policies, procedures, and programs that support consistent Safety, Quality, and Environmental culture.
Safety Manager will maintain a field presence including conducting inspections, training, and verifying compliance.
Safety Manager will maintain effective communication with all levels of employees, management and applicable Federal, State, and Local regulatory agencies and consultants.
- Lead analysis and evaluation of compliance or safety related issues related to operations and develop/implement corrective action to resolve potential problems.
- Assist facility with Contractor safety management to include training/writing, JSA (Job Safety Analysis) development, and safety oversight of contractors.
· Ability to conduct safety related training and the ability to relate to a wide audience of personnel.
· Working knowledge of administering a Lead Program
· Willing to become certified in forklift train the trainer program
· Must be willing to complete the Competent Person Training Class
· Working knowledge of OSHA Required yearly reports: OSHA 300 & 300 A
· Ability to work as a team with other safety/environmental personnel as well as with all levels of management including all shipyard team members.
· Ability to physically be a presence in the shipyard, support facilities as well as become familiar with towing vessel safety and security.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Four-year degree from an accredited college or university in Safety Studies, or Natural Science Field. Extensive work experience may be substituted in lieu of a 4-year degree.
