Nature Pointe
Event Patrol and Parking Attendant Job Description
Background: The events held at the Nature Pointe Clubhouse are vital to the success of the community. They also have the potential to impact the surrounding community should the events reach beyond the boundaries of the clubhouse property. The Event Patrol and Parking Attendant (EPPA) position is essential to maintaining a pleasant environment for the event participants and the surrounding community.
Responsibilities: The EPPA’s main role is providing an “observe and report” capability for the Venue Director.
The EPPA will begin their shift assisting attendees with parking. It is important to maximize all of the available parking to prevent attendee parking on or near private property, except where permission has been specifically granted by the property owner. Training will be provided to the EPPA regarding allowable places for attendees and staff to park, as well as procedures for properly handling overflow parking.
The EPPA will then transition to property monitoring duties once most of the attendees have arrived. The EPPA will regularly patrol the grounds during the entire event. Some of the most significant incidents involve individual attendees trespassing on private property, exceeding noise limits, and other unruly behavior. The EPPA will be equipped with a sound meter and trained in its use so that he/she can communicate any excessive sound concerns to the Venue Director.
It is also important for the EPPA to pay attention to activities in the parking lot. Primary concerns here are unauthorized alcohol consumption, smoking in non-designated areas (smoking is only allowed in the area just north of the front entrance), and other inappropriate activities. Responsibilities during this period include correcting any improper parking by late-comers to the event.
The EPPA will check the property at the end of the event to check for any remaining attendees and obvious trash or litter.
Communication: The EPPA will be equipped with a HOA-owned cell phone to allow the community to notify him/her of issues and concerns and also serve as a line of communication with the Venue Director. Any calls from the community to the EPPA will be relayed to the Venue Director as soon as possible.
Limitations: The EPPA has no law enforcement, arrest or detain authority. The responsibilities of the EPPA extend to verbal communication, observe and report. If confrontation is expected or develops, the EPPA will call for support from the Venue Director or response organizations (Sheriff’s Office or Fire Department).
