Controls & Software Intern – Summer 2025

Our Controls & Software team is committed to innovation, quality, and sustainability. We are seeking a motivated and talented Intern to join our dynamic team.
About the Intern Program
- 12 week program with start dates on: May 12 or 19 or June 2
- 40 hours per week
- Must graduate between December 2025 - May 2027
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and testing of control systems and software for commercial trucks
- Support the engineering team in creating and updating software models and simulations
- Conduct research and analysis on control algorithms, software tools, and industry standards
- Participate in the integration and validation of control systems in prototype vehicles
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, systems, and validation engineers, to ensure system compatibility and performance
- Prepare technical reports and documentation
Minimum Requirements
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
Additional Requirements
- Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. International Motors does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B or F-1 status)
Desired Skills
- Minimum required cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Critical thinking and problem solving
- Previous internships or work experience is a plus
- Ability to work independently
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., C/C , Python, MATLAB/Simulink)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Basic understanding of control systems and embedded software is a plus
- Previous internship or project experience in automotive or software engineering is preferred
Benefits and Compensation
- The expected compensation hourly pay ranges for hires into our 2025 campus intern openings is $24 - $38/hour.
- Hourly pay is based on year in school and is non-negotiable.
