Nature of Work
Peru State College seeks candidates for the position of Director of Residence Life to provide a personal and engaging education experience for our residential community. The Director administers the comprehensive living-learning environment for all residence halls and campus apartments. This position facilitates the personalized engagement of all students in the residence halls through a dynamic team approach. The Director provides supervision to the Project Coordinator for Residence Life and Oversight is provided for day-to-day operations of residence life including serving as functional lead for housing management system. This person is responsible for facilitating community development that enhances academic success and personal growth, participates in the department’s crisis response network, and provides on call support (is required to live in an on-campus residence hall apartment or equivalent). The Director is responsible for the educational curriculum in the residence halls through supervision and management of the programming model and development of living-learning communities. The Director also serves as a judicial hearing officer, advises Residence Hall Association (RHA) and leads conference services. This is a 12-month position with some non-standard hours. This position is exempt with regard to FLSA overtime provisions.

Secondary Duties:
- Recruit, supervise, train and evaluate two full time employees
- Oversee the recruitment, supervision, training and evaluation for undergraduate Resident Assistants.
- Oversee the development and implementation of professional staff and training programs for all Residence Life staff.
- Facilitate Residence Life staff meetings and bi-weekly supervisory meetings with individual staff.
- Participate in Student Life professional staff development programs.
- Develop and implement all Residence Life Policies and Procedures.
- Facilitate the development of an environment which stimulates student responsibility and accountability within the residence hall and college community.
- Assist students and families with special housing needs and general concerns
- Manage and oversee housing management system (StarRez)
Conduct
- Serve as administrative hearing officer to hear judicial cases.
- Coordinate with the Dean of Students on all conduct issues and student concerns
- Create learning outcomes and implement and evaluate programs to achieve and assess outcomes.
- Advise the Residence Hall Association
- Oversee all programming and residential education curriculum
- Assist Retention Specialist to administer Residence Life evaluations.
- Coordinate with Campus Services on the maintenance and renovation of all residence hall facilities.
- Oversee guest and summer conference program
- Serves in evening and weekend on-call for campus community.
- Serve as a member of college committees as requested.
- Attend and actively participate in campus activities and programs.
- Coordinate with Activities and other departments on orientation programming, retention initiatives and other first year programs.
- Coordinate with Campus Security regularly and as needed
- Maintain collegial and professional relationships with other areas as required to establish a healthy community for students and staff
- Actively participate in professional associations such as UMR, AIMHO, etc.

Required Qualifications
The successful candidate will have earned a Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s in higher education administration or related area preferred. Three or more years of full-time residence life experience is preferred. Additionally, the candidate will have demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse student populations; a knowledge of housing management software or propensity toward learning new technology in a fast-paced environment; demonstrate strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; and have demonstrated success building collaborative working relationships throughout the College community and external audiences, including campus services and athletics. Successful candidates will be committed to personal growth, possess mature judgment, and a student development philosophy. Knowledge of housing management software is preferred.
