Necco is engaging a BI Mentor to level up a high-talent Data Lead—an exceptional engineer who needs reps in delivering what the business actually needs, not just what they ask for. The goal is to build instincts around lean BI execution, stakeholder management, and avoiding the “if you give a mouse a cookie, they will want a glass of milk” trap.
The candidate selected will be responsible for the following:
Scope (4 Weeks)
- Reps, Reps, Reps – Break down real BI requests, separate needs from noise, and focus on impact.
- Blueprinting Mindset – Develop a structured approach to prevent over-engineering and scope creep.
- Stakeholder Judo – Push back smartly, ask the right questions, and manage expectations.
- Execution Discipline – Build simple, scalable solutions that don’t create an endless cycle of follow-up asks.
Deliverables
- BI Playbook – A repeatable framework for filtering and prioritizing business requests.
- Live Coaching – Weekly sessions async feedback on real-time BI work.
- Lean BI Toolkit – Techniques to stop the cycle of endless asks and ensure reports drive action.
- Retrospective Review (Week 4) – Assess progress, refine approach, and determine if additional mentoring is needed or wanted. Optional contract renewal on a 4-week cadence.
Time Commitment
- 4 weeks | 10 hours per week
- Mix of live coaching, async feedback, and project reviews

- Faster time-to-value on BI projects with less complexity.
Stronger stakeholder feedback on clarity, actionability, and impact.
Data Lead confidently driving BI conversations instead of just executing requests.
