What are the responsibilities and job description for the Land Surveying Crew Chief position at Nederveld, Inc.?
The Survey Crew Chief will provide accurate and timely service to our clients through expertise in land surveying and leading a team. S / he will be responsible for completing the work scheduled for the day and assuring the accuracy of the work performed.
Essential Functions
- Perform construction layouts, topographic, boundary, and ALTA surveys with a 1-2 person crew
- Apply knowledge and experience to guide crew members
- Utilize standard survey equipment, robotics, and GPS

Valid Driver’s License in good standing, demonstrating safe driving habits and capable of being insured by our company policy.
Position Type / Expected Hours
This is a full-time position. Some flexibility in hours is permitted, but s / he must be available during the standard work hours of 7 : 00 AM to 5 : 00 PM. Additional hours may be requested based on workload.
Physical Demands
This position is a combination of fieldwork, travel-related work, and sedentary work. An employee is regularly required to drive, stand, sit, walk, reach, type, talk, hear, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, push, pull, carry, and lift up to 50 pounds. An employee may also be required to traverse wooded and / or uneven terrain, enter structures, use ladders, walk on roofs, enter small spaces, and work in various weather conditions.
Travel
Regular travel will be required as a part of the Survey Crew Chief job.
