ROLE OVERVIEW and PURPOSE
The Echocardiography Technologist will perform all types of echocardiography testing. This role will assist physicians deliver safe and age-appropriate patient care during testing in the echocardiography lab. Additionally, this role will work collaboratively with the care team to promote wellness and optimize patient outcomes and quality care. Current need is twice a week.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs exercise and pharmacological transthoracic echocardiograms and stress echo tests per department and management guidelines
- Captures digital cardiac images and performs measurements correctly, including recognizing pathology and/or customizing exams requiring contrast agent accordingly due to lack of image quality
- Responds to stat calls and reports life threatening pathology to attending physician
- Prepares echocardiogram procedure, including equipment, supplies, instruments, and appropriate paperwork
- Participates in orientation of new employees, as needed
- Monitors quality control of equipment and escalates issues, as needed.
- Participates in performance improvement activities that impact patient and service outcomes based on professional practice standards
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma/GED required; associate’s degree in cardiovascular technology preferred
- Certificate of completion from an accredited cardiac ultrasound program required
- Valid license in echocardiography from the Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Congenial Sonographer (RCCS) required
- Registry eligible according to the ARDMS or CCI Standards required
- Valid BLS certification from approved American Health Association provider required upon hire
- One year echocardiogram experience required, two years’ experience preferred
- Experience performing echocardiography with echo machines from various manufacturers in the echo lab required

- Excellent basic computer skills
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Pay range: $35.82 - $44.66 per hour, depending on experience.
