OSP Fiber Splicer
Job Responsibilities:
- Drive a company splice truck/van to be dispatched to various sites for new deployments and troubleshooting the network.
- Splice single mode and multi-mode fiber optics.
- Troubleshooting with OTDR and OCC equipment.
- Splice in multiple types of enclosures and FDP’s.
- Ability to splice both underground and aerial.
- Splicing midsheath, armored and self-support cable.
- Work as a team with other technicians and NOC personnel and report to field supervisors/managers.
- Work in a fast paced and changing environment that requires problem solving abilities and extreme attention to details.
- Must have at least 5 years’ experience using a fusion splicer, splicing both loose tube and ribbon fiber, operating an OTDR, and power meter.
- Must be able to read prints and other types of engineering documents.
- Must be able to work, day or nights with occasional overnight travel.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be very conscientious, accurate, detail oriented and self-motivated.
- Must be proficient with Internet and MS Office applications
- Must be able to lift 60 lbs. and climb a ladder.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Company Requirements:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America
- Must have a valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record
- Must submit to background check and drug testing
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
- OTDR: 5 years (Required)
- OSP (outside plant) fiber splicing: 5 years (Required)
