New Canaan Country School, a Pre-K through Grade 9 co-ed, independent day school, serves approximately 570 students from diverse backgrounds living in 18 different towns/cities across Fairfield and Westchester counties. Our mission is to create an active, joyful learning environment where children are challenged to think deeply, question confidently, and act generously so that they may lead lives of impact and purpose.
Early Childhood at Country School serves approximately 100 students ages 3 to 6 in Beginners and Kindergarten. Our teachers support the school's educational mission and core values of community, courage, curiosity, and kindness. A strong teacher presence and low student-teacher ratio help usher children through these critical formative years.
A Beginners Support Teacher would work alongside Lead Teachers to support a mission-focused learning environment for up to 14 students. We are looking for someone to assist teachers during the afternoon, helping children transition from lunch to rest and then to a play-based activity. This is a part-time, 8 hours/week position for the 2024-25 school year.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with Beginners Teachers
- Supporting and modeling positive discipline
- Be available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 1:00-3:00 on school days
Requirements
- Successful experience working with young children
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrates interest in teaching
