Shipping Manager

The Shipping Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager and is responsible for overseeing all shipping activities at the company's manufacturing facility. These activities would include scheduling and coordinating all shipments, verifying orders prior to shipping, and receiving/verifying in-coming shipments. This position is the customer service liaison between the plant and the company and is the first point of contact for order status and inventory inquiries. On-time, in-full shipments coupled with excellent communication skills is their primary goal.

Duties & Responsibilities

· Schedule and coordinate deliveries and pickups of completed orders.

· Check-in/verify all incoming shipments and update purchase orders upon completion of goods.

· Maintain and develop metrics, reports, process documentation, and customer service/carrier logs.

· Communicate, internally & externally, as necessary to answer questions, relay shipping updates, and help handle complaints calmly and efficiently.

· Work with other managers in the plant to ensure coordination of other warehouse activities, including stock status, opening/closing, facility maintenance, and quality control.

· Evaluate carrier performance, negotiate carrier rates, and keep shipping operations within budget without compromising speed or efficiency.

· Ensure a safe work environment through strict adherence to our safety policies and procedures.

· Build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders (warehouse workers, vendors, purchasing managers, suppliers, etc.).

· Assist in hitting a manufacturing goal of 95% OTIF shipments for our manufactured products.

· Assist in monthly physical inventory of finished products and materials and reconcile warehouse inventory variances.

· Other tasks as assigned by the Plant Manager.

Required Skills/Experience/Education

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
• Must have minimum 3-5 years of shipping management experience or similar role.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office software such as Excel, PowerPoint, & Word.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to perform physical tasks that include walking, climbing equipment, and lifting over 50 pounds.
• Time management, organization, and ability to multi-task. Detail-oriented.
• Basic math skills, using fractions and whole numbers.
• Flexibility with day-to-day tasks and requirements.
• Ability to work in a warehouse without climate control.
• Positive, professional, “can-do” attitude.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as be an integral part of a team.
