What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Engineer Intern position at New Hudson Facades LLC?
The Mechanical Engineer Intern (MEI). The MEI helps develop and refine processes within all departments including design and engineering, manufacturing, and field installation. The MEI provides support to ME’s with building physics support (thermal, acoustic, etc.) through specification review and analysis.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing curtainwall systems aligned with project specifications, budgets, and quality standards.
- Support process improvements across design, engineering, manufacturing, and installation teams to enhance workflow efficiency.
- Create project drawings for review by external design teams, including architects, consultants, and general contractors.
- Develop 3D parametric models to produce detailed production information and generate accurate 3D wireframe models.
- Adhere to best practice drafting and modeling standards, contributing to continuous process improvements.
- Review, interpret, and apply project specifications to ensure material selection and design compliance.
- Analyze and interpret architectural and structural project drawings.
- Provide coordination and technical support to operations teams, factory personnel, and on-site field teams.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as needed within the design and engineering departments
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and Inventor/SolidWorks preferred
- Strong general computer skills including working knowledge of email, MS Office, and similar software
- Strong spatial aptitude
- Ability to travel as required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Entry level in Engineering Series.
- Under Supervision, performs technical work and project tasks
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- May occasionally require lifting of office supplies and equipment.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- 0-2 yrs. Experience
- Currently enrolled in a degree program in Mechanical Engineering
